Where Lights Are Gone

How much higher could our eyes go
Contemplating in a world full of "No"
How much brighter is the sun gonna
be, for lights are fading and our Hearts
can no longer beam like they used to be
We save the times of when we were happy
And play them on repeat, but frustration
Disrupts joy and less of that we can meet
Tracking back what might've seemed like
Our enormous defeat and pouring our hearts
Out to turn them into miraculous feats
Us, extraordinary creatures, try to welcome
Life with all its features, those that we despise
and occasionally try to undermine, and those that
we don't actually mind, you bet it's easy,
but hope is just like a dream hard to be seen,
unless you shut your eyes so the world they can no longer see
Our rising sun is sinking in the moon
Our starry nights are not coming soon
So forget about star-gazing nights and
Prepare for ones that are less bright
This is the Earth of where the lights are gone
