The day shuts and the night opens
And for obscure reasons it's at this
Time that we let out our emotions
No one likes it; being fully exposed in
Broad daylight, when we can simply pour
Those griefing hearts out at the midnight's ocean
When no eyes but God's are watching
When no fingers towards us are pointed
When we don't have to fake so none in us
Are disappointed
We endure the sun while it's harsh on us
And break under the moon hardly trying
To light those nights for us
But there is no escaping it, this midnight depression;
it releases our feelings from our opression
and sets free a sadness that we seldom hear
and often dread with anticipated fear
Just let them flow, those bottled tears
Like a river let them flow over your cheeks
No more running or hiding behind a tree
Let them flow, let them glow like no eyes
could ever know the beauty behind your growth
